سلجوق التون ترکی کے قدیم شہر آرتوین میں 1950 میں پیدا ہوئے ۔ وہ ریٹائرڈ بینکار، پبلشر اور ترکی میں ادب کے حوالے سے بہت بلند مقام رکھتے ہیں ۔ اُن کے اس ناول ( بہت سال پہلے ) کو انٹر نیشنل ایسوسی ایشن آف کرائم رائیٹرز نے ایک سو غیر ملکی کرائم فکشن کی فہرست میں شامل کیا ہے۔
سلجوق التون، ترکی کے معروف اور مقبول انعام یافتہ ادیب ہےں۔”بازنطینی سلطان“ ان کے ناول کا اردو ترجمہ ہے۔ اس ناول کی کہانی پُرتجسس، سنسنی خیز اور اسرار سے بھرپورہے جس میں تاریخ اور تخیل ساتھ ساتھ رواں ہیں۔ ناول مصنف کی جانب سے بازنطینی تہذیب کو ایک خراجِ عقیدت ہے۔
